Nuclear Poetry

This guy Or-Well always does topical poems, mostly posting at ENENEWS.

Some of his work (I assume he is a he, just seems like a he, but no offense if a she) is amazingly good, and strikes to the point.    Here is one of them.

The Lies of Nuclear meet the Dreams of Children

You realise you are not alone:
this must for others be as true;
that more than you live in despair
for what they can't undo.
But there are other children
in desparate circumstance
and if you act you may secure
if but for one, a chance,
and if two join, or three can act as one,
you may prevent one more child's life
from being as undone,
and if all those who know a child
and love or have been loved
will act for the most precious
their futures to improve,
much threat of death and misery
from young lives can be removed.

And so in pre-dawn grayness an inner light ignites
that can no more be extinguished
than the Sun or Human Rights,
when one by one the many come
understanding to the fight
you can rip away vast Evil's face
though it holds you by the throat
and expose the lies of Nuclear
before all Life it smotes.

  1. Hi Stock, or-well here.
That's "or-well", no CAPS, no gender, no permission needed to republish!
BUT - that's not the title. No biggie.
The above is the end of a piece about 5x as long.
I don't like to exceed character limits at ENENEWS and spread stuff over multiple posts.
I'll put the whole thing here if you'd like it.
Thanks for doing this site, BTW.
    Regards, o

    1. There's more defense against radiation
than there is against a dream
where suddenly you're with a child
      you never more will see.
      Where or when, why or how, it simply matters not;
to that moment precious and former normalcy so pure
you surrender in totality all your grieving heart,
compelled, believing one beloved still endures.
Is it Christmas, or a birthday, or some simple day of days?
      Details precise or inconsistent,
you join your child in play.

You feel again your childs' delight,
      the joyous awe and wonder
      at simply living in experience
before your lives were torn asunder.
You know again, by pure heart fresh
      how you were openly invited
to share your dear childs' moments
when your lives weren't cruelly blighted.
At play, with toy, outdoors or in
all care is put to rout,
your spirit does its' woe disdain
      with one you've been without.
      You remember, time-transported,
how by Love you'd both connect,
the gift of Being you were given,
      before your lives were wrecked.
Be it game or craft or story or simple exploration,
you are near transcendent, in loving adoration.
Despite dream haze your spirit knows
      the truth that lies beneath,
the gift to you your child so givingly bequeathed,
for as real as by your memory
      the dream-set may be dressed,
it is by what you feel, not see,
that once you were so blessed.

But as dreams go, it does
      and starts dissolving in confusion
and even as you dream you know
      it's no more than illusion.
      You wake, heart pounding, trembling
and wet your face with tears,
      knowing your childs' absence
will haunt you all your years.
The broken fragments of your heart
      and tormented spirit drift
beyond the reach of time and space,
      of Hope you feel bereft.

      You remember how so willingly
to protect your child you'd trade
your life itself, all the demands
      and desparate pleas you made.
      You remember how, when raging,
      if you were granted power,
you'd tear the world itself apart
to give your child just one more hour.

You realise you are not alone:
      this must for others be as true;
that more than you live in despair
      for what they can't undo.
      But there are other children
      in desparate circumstance
and if you act you may secure
if but for one, a chance,
and if two join, or three can act as one,
you may prevent one more childs' life
      from being as undone
and if all those who know a child
and love or have been loved
will act for the most precious
      their futures to improve,
much threat of death and misery
from young lives can be removed.
